TotalEnergies Lubmarine Launches Aurelia FE, an Innovative Fuel Economy Lubricant for 4-Stroke Medium Speed Marine Engines

Paris, September 7th, 2026 – TotalEnergies Lubmarine division announces the launch of Aurelia FE, an innovative trunk piston engine oil designed to help shipowners reduce fuel consumption, lower operating costs and improve vessel efficiency.

With fuel representing the largest operating expense for most vessels, Aurelia FE delivers a new approach to energy efficiency through advanced lubricant technology. Extensive laboratory bench testing has demonstrated fuel savings of 1.5%* on a standardized IMO E3 cycle (NOx Technical Code), while field testing indicates the potential for even greater benefits under real operating conditions. These savings translate directly into lower fuel costs and reduced associated CO₂ emissions.

Aurelia FE delivers immediate performance benefits with no equipment modifications, vessel downtime or operational disruption. Supported by more than 100,000 hours of proven service experience and backed by the industry’s first approval from a leading global marine engine OEM for an engine oil of its kind, it offers operators a simple, low-risk route to improved fleet efficiency from day one.

“At Lubmarine, we are committed to developing solutions that create value for our customers while supporting the shipping industry’s decarbonization,”

said Louise Tricoire, Vice-President TotalEnergies Lubmarine.

“Aurelia FE represents an important step forward in lubricant innovation, helping shipowners improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions without compromising engine performance and reliability.”
